This year, our chosen charity is for Scribblecon is Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, who support children with life shortening conditions, and their families.

We chose Forget Me Not in memory of Simon Shaw – the owner of Legacy Comics in Halifax – who so sadly and suddenly left us last year.

Over the years, Simon raised funds for many local charities, in part through his amazing raffles on every Free Comic Book Day, various fundraisers at his shop, and as well his generous donations of prizes to our tombola in previous years, raising money for Mind and PAWS.

Simon was kind, honest and welcoming to all, and his energy was a catalyst for so many people and creative ideas. He loved comics, and he loved making a positive impact on people’s lives.

So let’s all raise a glass to Simon, and do him proud by raising lots of funds for Forget Me Not.

We will be collecting at Scribblecon, and there’ll also be a tombola stall. Many items on the 2nd hand stall will also go towards the fundraising.
